The symmetry and dazzler of Islamic art and architecture has been admired for centuries; these ii volumes, while published separately, are being offered as a gear up. It does not appear as though the Press has (at least, non yet) published a tertiary volume, and then equally of this date, these two volumes institute a consummate gear up. Published past the Yale Academy Press with their attending to quality and detail, the start volume (650 to 1250) is outset edition by the Yale University Press, the first printing, published in 2001; the second volume (1250 to 1800) is the first printing of the 1995 corrected edition (first published in 1994). Both volumes out of print in hardcover, per the web site of the Press. ___DESCRIPTION: Commencement volume (650 to 1250) spring in total blue cloth over boards, gilded lettering, publisher's device, and ruled edge on the spine, blue endpapers, illustrated double-spread title folio, book replete with illustrations, both coloured and black and white, maps and diagrams on about every page; quarto size (eleven one/2" by 8 iii/four"), pagination: [i-vii] viii-xiv, [1-3] 4-345. Pictorial dust jacket is not clipped (although without a printed price), with summary of the book on the front flap and author bios on the dorsum flap. Second volume (1250 to 1800) bound in full black cloth over boards, gold lettering, publisher's device, and ruled border on the spine, greenish endpapers, illustrated double-spread title page, and as with the beginning volume, the 2d volume is replete with illustrations, both coloured and blackness and white, maps and diagrams on almost every page; quarto size (11 ane/2" by viii three/iv"), pagination: [i-five] vi-16, [1] 2-348. Pictorial dust jacket is not clipped (once again, without a printed price), with summary of the volume on the front flap and author bios on the back flap. The 2nd book (only) in the publisher's thin white cardstock slipcase. ___CONDITION: Volumes are both fine, with make clean boards, direct corners without rubbing, strong, square text blocks with solid hinges, the interiors are make clean and bright, and both volumes are entirely free of prior possessor markings; clean, crisp, equally new.
